Each client has the right to bring 1 (one) pet on the flight inside the cabin. There is a limit of 3 (three) pets (dogs and cats) allowed in each flight and 1 in Bussiness cabin, as long as they are over 4 (four) months old and are being safely transported in an appropriate crate. The seats available for this bouarding are  only on the side seats, in the aisle.There is a fee of R$ 250,00 (two hundred and fifty Brazilian Reais) or US$ 100.00 (one hundred dollars) per segment for this service in domestic flights. For international flights, the fee is US$/EUR 150.00 (one hundred and fifty dollars/Euros) per way for transportation in the economy cabin and US$/EUR 300.00 (one hundred and fifty dollars/Euros) per way for transport in the executive cabin.

Some rules apply:

  • The total weight of the animal (animal + crate) cannot exceed 7 kg. The animal must be clean, healthy and free of unpleasant odors.
  • Azul accepts two types of carrying containers for animals: a rigid crate or a flexible bag. The dimensions must be at most 43cm length 31,5cm width and 20cm height.

Selecting the appropriate container for your friend:

  • The rigid container must be of fiberglass or rigid, durable plastic;
  • The flexible bag must have internal metal struts to reinforce the structure and be of waterproof material;
  • Pets cannot be removed from their containers;
  • Other types of crates – such as wooden or wicker crates, or soft sided bags that are not of waterproof material - will not be accepted for boarding animals;
  • To ensure the animal's comfort, the container's internal dimensions must be appropriate for the animal's size, allowing it to stand up and move around in a complete circle (360°);
  • There must be openings in the container to allow for air circulation;
  • The container must be equipped with a safety mechanism, internal or external, to prevent accidental opening;
  • During the flight the animal needs the same types of care it requires on land. Therefore the container must be lined in an absorbent material that traps urine and feces, preventing leaks during transportation;
  • The container for live animals must be durable, safe, waterproof and comfortable for the animal;
  • The container must be provided by the client;
  • Azul must receive the container under clean, sanitary and sterilized conditions to prevent the spread of diseases to the animal and third parties.
  • If any of the above-mentioned conditions are not fulfilled, Azul may prevent the animal from boarding.

Required documents (domestic flights):

  • Documentation which demonstrates that the animal is healthy and well cared and a vaccination certificate for rabies containing the name of the manufacturer, type of vaccine and lot number. This vaccine must have been applied at least 30 days before and at most 1 year prior to boarding.
  • You also must present a veterinarian-issued health certificate for the animal, issued within 10 days of the boarding date.
  • The customer must provide another Certificate if their return trip takes place after the 10-day validity period of its issuance
  • For flights to Fernando de Noronha, besides the above-mentioned documentation, you will also need an Authorization to entry with animals onto the island, issued by the office of the Secretary of Environment and Tourism of Fernando de Noronha. Their contact phone number is (81) 3619-0810.
  • If you are coming to Brazil, the rules applied are for international boarding. If this customer, after arriving in Brazil, wishes to make domestic flights, he must present the documentation for domestic boarding, remembering that if he wishes to go to Fernando de Noronha or Carajás, he must present the additional documentation requested in these regions.
  • If you are going on an international flight, you must present documentation according to the destination country, and always confirm prior to travel, via the website of the animal health authority of the destination country, if there are any additional specific requirements.
